How does One2Ones work?

One2Ones is a community of teachers and pupils who share in the principle that learning should be fun, creative, and social. Our platform is a community of motivated tutors, coaches, and teachers, who offer online classes in all sorts of things, like academic tutoring, music, sports, arts and crafts, life skills, wellness and wellbeing…

Parents and guardians can sign their kids up to join these classes online, which might run just once, or be part of a series. These classes are run via Microsoft Zoom, but everything is integrated in our online classroom. Here, you’ll find live video (connecting tutors and students), a messaging box, and a space for graphics and drawing.

So One2Ones is a bit like an activity camp, but all online and at your fingertips. We hope you’ll find the classes that you love, but if you don’t see what you’re looking for, then we will take suggestions and ask our community of tutors to teach the topic that you want.
What does One2Ones want to do?

Our focus is on bringing motivation and inspiration to pupils and teachers. It’s about providing people with the chance to share their passion and expertise online, on a schedule that suits. We want to kindle enthusiasm in young minds, by offering an impossibly large selection of learning classes. We hope that this will give young people the chance to explore new opportunities, and start to think about their futures with open minds, boundless enthusiasm, and joy. We also want to help parents, so many of whom have struggled in the last year, by equipping them with a tool that makes looking after their children’s learning easier.
How many teachers are registered with you?

One2Ones has launched with hundreds of passionate Tutors. We currently have a large database of tutors who are keen to join the One2Ones team and continue to be reviewed. We have a selection process to ensure that only the best and most passionate teachers join our community.
How many children will there be in group classes?

Some classes benefit from being taught to smaller groups, but some work better with more. We ask that tutors consider a suitable number to have within their groups — where they would benefit from being smaller, we ask them to offer the same class over different days. The more that pupils feel engaged and supported by their teaching, the better their time on One2Ones will be. Typically, we would advise our tutors against running classes in groups larger than 9 pupils.
What happens if a class is cancelled?

To ensure we are offering a consistent service to our audience, our database will flag if classes are consistently cancelled, and refunds are authorised on a regular basis. Once a class is cancelled, all participants will be notified by an automated email. The refund process is managed by One2Ones. Teachers are advised to get in touch with students if the cancellation is last minute, and arrange an appropriate replacement.
Does everyone need to be Background checked in order to teach?

Whilst this isn’t a legal requirement for online tutoring platforms, it is for One2Ones.com. Anyone that wishes to be a tutor will have to have an updated Background Check Certificate.
Can I buy a gift card?

Yes! A gift that gives, a gift that lasts, to say it poetically. Send a gift card and help someone explore their passion today. Gift cards can be redeemed to buy places in classes, and expire 12 months after the issue date.
What features are included in the online classroom?

Our online classroom includes a secure Zoom link, so students can meet face-to-face with teachers. This comes at no additional cost to customers or teachers. There is also a space for graphics, so tutors can draw or write away (if they use a graphics tablet), and a chat box for discussion.
What if I subscribe to a Course of classes, but don’t enjoy it?

We really hope this doesn’t happen, but understandably things aren’t always what they seem. If you’ve paid for a Course, but it was not what you expected, or you are unable to continue, Parents can ‘unenroll’ their child at any time to receive a full refund.
Do you offer a membership platform?

Not at the moment. You can add funds to your wallet, however, and use these to purchase spaces on classes. You might want to purchase a gift card, which can be redeemed for all things One2Ones.
What steps have you taken to ensure your platform is safe for children?

Curious minds are happy minds, and so it’s vital that learning happens in a safe place. We’ve verified that all of our teachers are Background checked, and we have a rigorous teacher selection process to ensure that all teaching is to the highest standard.
Is Zoom safe for my child?

One2Ones.com and Zoom take all steps possible to keep live classes safe for your child. It is however an online live platform and so we always advise to have your child join One2One’s classes in a location where you, or a guardian, can hear the audio.
Commonly Asked Questions By Parents
Can I cancel a Class?

Yes, you can cancel by going into the Class Card and clicking ‘unenroll’. Please give as much notice to your Tutor and use our ‘Message Tutor’ feature to discuss an alternative date or time for a Class Booking. Once a Class is cancelled, One2Ones will issue a full refund back onto the payment card used. If Payment was made from a Gift Card, the refund will appear in your ‘Wallet’, for you to use against future Class Bookings.
Can I cancel a Course?

Yes, you can cancel a course. Did you know, you can also cancel an individual Class within the course to avoid missing all Classes? Go onto your Class Card, ‘Unenroll’ at the top of the page to end your subscription to the course. Scroll down to the individual Classes to ‘unenroll’ for one or more of the Classes you can no longer attend. Please give as much notice to your Tutor and use our ‘Message Tutor’ feature to discuss an alternative date or time for a Class Booking.
How can I manage the families One2Ones schedule?

You can view your schedule by Child or by family. If you use another online calendar, on your phone or desktop, use our ‘sync calendar’ option to centralise your One2Ones schedule and personal. Keeping everything in one place.
How long should I wait on a Zoom call for the Tutor?

Tutors are encouraged to be early to Classes. In the instance the Tutor is late, we kindly ask that you wait 10 minutes and check your Messages for any notifications. If the Tutor doesn’t turn up to Class, the system will issue a full refund.
How can I change the date of a scheduled class?

Firstly, unenroll to the Class you are no longer able to attend. Use our ‘Message Tutor’ feature to arrange another Class. Tutors are encouraged to be flexible, but it is at their discretion to offer alternative dates and times. If a new Class is scheduled, the Tutor will send you a direct link via Messages, for you to book and enjoy!
Where do I access the Zoom Link for my Class?

One2Ones will send an email and SMS to the Parents registered email and mobile number, two hours prior to the Class Start Time, inside will be the generic zoom link for you to access your Class. You can also access the Zoom Link on the Class Card within your schedule.
Do I need a Zoom Account to use One2Ones?

Yes, please ensure you have a Zoom account and are logged in prior to the Class Start Time. You can choose a display name for your child within your Zoom Settings. New to Zoom? Sign Up here.
Do I get a notification if the Class is cancelled?

Yes, if a Class is cancelled, you will receive a notification from our system to the Parents registered email address and mobile number. Parents will receive a full refund for Classes Cancelled.
Why has my Class been Cancelled?

Classes can be cancelled due to a minimum participant requirement not being met OR a change in schedule for our Tutor. Tutors are encouraged to proceed with Classes where the number of enrolled pupils has not hit their minimum requirement, but in some cases these will need to be re-arranged. We kindly ask our Tutors to consider giving Parents 24 hours’ notice to Class Cancellations. Please check your Messages if you receive a Class Cancellation notification, our Tutors are encouraged to discuss and re-arrange with you directly within your inbox.
I can’t see a Zoom link, what should I do?

Didn’t receive your Zoom link via SMS or Email? Please log out of your profile and back in, enter the Class Page and see if the Link has appeared. Please refresh your page once more. If, after these initial troubleshooting steps, call our One2Ones team on +44(0)207 7 889 2533 or email support@one2ones.com and a member of our team will pick it up straight away.
I forgot to cancel a class; can I get a refund?

Class refunds can only be issued when a Parent ‘unenrolls’ their child from a scheduled Class or Course. If this is not done prior to the Class Start Time, the transaction is no longer refundable.
I paid with a gift card, where does my refund go?

Refunds on payments issued by a One2Ones eGift card are added to the Parents profile, you can view your Credit Balance by going to ‘My Gift Cards’ from the drop down menu of your profile. These funds can then be used against future Class bookings. At checkout, please tick ‘use gift card credits’ as payment to redeem.
I paid with a gift card and topped up the payment with my Debit/Credit Card, how is the refund processed?

Refunds on payments issued by a One2Ones eGift card and Debit/Credit Cards are added to the Parents profile (see ‘My Gift Cards’ to review balance) and remaining funds back onto the Debit/Credit Card used for the transaction. These funds can then be used against future Class bookings. At checkout, please ‘use credits’ as payment to redeem balances in your Wallet.
Can my child book a class with my card details?

No, we want to keep your details safe. One2Ones will require Parents to process all Class Bookings and Payment Transactions. Therefore, please ensure you are in your Parent Account when booking.

Your Child can search and ‘request to book’ any Classes they like the look of, sending a notification to a Parents Registered Email to book their child a seat on the Class.
How can I opt out of SMS Marketing?

How can I opt out of Email Marketing?

Of course! Nothing worse than content you just don’t want to read…. Click ‘unsubscribe’ at the bottom of your email.
I like the look of a Class, but it’s the wrong date / time, what can I do?

We understand not all schedules sync. Use our ‘Message Tutor’ feature to engage directly with the Tutor and request something that works for you. Additional Class Dates and/or Times are at the Tutors discretion. Tutors are able to send you direct links within our Messaging feature for instant booking.
How can I receive notifications for Tutor Classes?

Receive instant alerts created by the Tutors you love by clicking ‘Follow Tutor’ on their profile. Any new content created by that Tutor will be sent to you as soon as it is live on the website, giving you instant access to booking a seat on the Class!
A class has expired, but I would be interested in something like this, can a new Class be created?

Expired Classes are a great way for Parents to see what other content and classes were put together by a Tutor. You can ‘request similar class which sends a direct link to the Tutor. It is at the Tutors discretion to publish this Class for live bookings. Tutors are able to send you direct links within our Messaging feature for instant booking.
Can Tutors adjust the age groups for some of the Classes published?

Many of our Tutors teach a wide range of age groups. Some Classes are published with ages they feel are appropriate to learn together, but are also able to offer the same class, to a different demographic. Use our ‘Message Tutor’ feature to engage with the tutor and discuss the option of an additional Class age group. It is at the Tutors discretion to publish this Class for live bookings.
Where can I download my receipts?

Go into your profile menu, click on Transactions and view. To download and save a receipt, click on ‘More Details’ against the transaction and ‘Download as PDF’

If a Pupil cancels their class, do I still get paid?

Tutors will not receive a payment for Classes that are cancelled by the Parent. Parents receive a full refund from any cancelled Classes.
If a Pupil doesn’t show up to call, do I still get paid?

You will receive a payment for a Class if the Parent didn’t cancel in advance, regardless of the Pupil attending the Class or not.
How do I know who is in my Class?

Against each of your Classes you can see ‘enrolled pupils’. Parents can choose to use nicknames for their Child profiles and so the names may not match the Profile Name on Zoom, please bear this in mind. The Zoom link will only work for verified Parent accounts, to further safeguard you and other children in the Class.
How do I know how many pupils are enrolled to my Classes?

Tutors will receive a notification every time a Pupil enrols to a Class, these notifications are via SMS and the Tutors registered email address. You can log into your account and view the ‘Enrolled users’ against the Class Card if needs be.
Do I get a notification if the Class is cancelled?

Yes, notifications are sent as soon as a Parent ‘unenrolls’ their child from a Class, these notifications are via SMS and the Tutors registered email address. If this leaves a Class Empty, the system will cancel the Class Listing 30 minutes prior to Class Start time so you can keep on top of your schedule.
If there are no bookings for my Class, when will I be notified that it is cancelled?

The system automatically cancels Classes with ‘0’ bookings 30 minutes prior to the Class Start Time. Once cancelled, the Class is not bookable to Parents but will still be visible on the website. A notification via SMS and the Tutors registered email address will be sent once actioned.
My expired Classes are still visible on the website and against my profile, why?

One2Ones keeps all Class Listings to support Tutor Profiles and advertising material. Expired listings have a replaced ‘book now’ button with a NEW, ‘Request Similar Class’ option for Parents. Tutors will receive a Message on their Tutor Profile with a link to the previously taught Class. Tutors can ‘Clone’ this Class and publish with new dates or times or confirm with a Parent that the Class cannot be cloned at this current time.
Can I remove expired Classes from my profile? They are no longer accurate to my profile.

Of course, we want to keep all data relevant for our audience, ping an email to support@one2ones.com and a member of our team will remove the listing.
What information do Parents get sent when they ‘Follow Tutor’ on my profile?

Parents receive instant alerts when Tutors publish new Class or Course listing This gives the Parents instant access to booking. Parents that are ‘following’ a Tutor for live updates are 86% more engaged, increasing your booking rate and boosting your earnings.
Where can I find images for my Class/Course Listings?

Tutors can download FREE images from www.unsplash.com. These free images can be used against your Class Cards with no concerns on copywrite. This website also publishes images that must be purchased. Tutors can use other sources or create their own marketing images for their listings.
My first Class, I’m nervous, is there support from One2Ones?

Don’t worry, we’re here to get you started! For every first class taught by our Tutors, a member of the One2Ones Team will join the Class via Zoom 10 minutes prior to the start time. Start your Class and test your camera and Audio with a member of our team. Happy Teaching 😊
Do One2Ones ever review my Class Content?

Yes, we do! One2Ones will run spot checks on Recorded Listings and/or during Live Classes for monitoring and safety check purposes. Most Live Monitoring is for technical and user experience reports, please do not be put off if you see a member of our team jump on!
Can I teach more than one subject?

Yes! Parents can see ‘Other Classes Taught by this Tutor’ every time they land on your profile. Showcasing a range of skills is always exciting to see. Please ensure you are confident in your teaching and map out the content and class syllabus prior to exploring new Class Subjects.
If my Class doesn’t meet the ‘minimum participant’ for enrolled users, does it automatically cancel?

Currently, Classes stay live even if the minimum participant figure is not met. One2Ones would like to encourage all Tutors to work towards enhancing their profiles, review section and experience in using the platform. If you are unhappy with the number of enrolled users, can cancel go ahead and cancel the Class.
Can I cancel my Class?

We understand plans change, please consider arranging a new date and time for a replacement Class for your Parents and Pupils to book on to. We kindly ask that Tutors give 24 hours notice to Parents when cancelling a Class. Once a Class is cancelled, the system will issue a full refund to the Parents and a notification is sent via email and SMS.
Where do I access the Zoom Link for my Class?

One2Ones will send an email and SMS to the Tutors registered email and mobile number, two hours prior to the Class Start Time, inside will be the generic zoom link for you to access your Class. You can also access the Zoom Link on the Class Card within your schedule. Please ensure you are logged into Zoom early, and start your Class in good time to check your audio and camera settings.
How long should I wait on a Zoom call for a Pupil to arrive?

We advise Tutors to wait up to 10 minutes for 1-2-1 Classes. Tutors are advised to check their Messages before leaving the call, in case Parents have been in touch with any issues and or request to wait. Tutors are asked to follow up with Parents once the call has ended.
How long should I wait for ‘All’ pupils to join a group class?

We advise that Tutors wait up to 5 minutes in group classes before starting the class. Tutors are asked to keep an eye on their Messages prior to a Class Start time to ensure there aren't any notifications from the Parent.
How can I manage my schedule?

Do One2Ones discount codes effect my 75% earnings?

Any Marketing Campaigns for Discount Codes are run by One2Ones.com and the percentage taken from the 25% Commission. One2Ones may offer discount codes for Tutors to use, which will sit against their 75% Income percentage, but will be discretionary and individual to your Classes only. These can be used as an incentive for higher Class Booking Flow or for returning Pupils.

Are there any other options to receive payment, other than PayPal?

PayPal is currently the only merchant used for Tutor Payments. We aim to explore alternative ideas in the near future.
Does One2Ones Pay the tax on my earnings?

No, as a tutor on One2Ones.com you are responsible for your taxable income, if applicable.

When do I receive my link?

For extra precaution, our system releases the Zoom Link to Pupil(s) and Tutors two hours prior to the session starting. You can find this link in an email and SMS notification to the Parents registered details. You can also access the Zoom Link on the Class Card within your schedule.
Is there a single link to Zoom, or are they all different?

For safety reasons, every session has its own unique Zoom meeting.  Parents/Pupils must enrol in a Session before they can gain access to a Zoom class for it.
I can’t see a Zoom link, what should I do?

Didn’t receive your Zoom link via SMS or Email?
  • Please log out of your profile and back in.
  • Go to schedule and open the Class Page, the link should now appear.
  • If it is still not visible, please refresh your page once more.

Can ‘anyone’ jump onto the call using the Zoom Link?

The Zoom Session will only recognise the email ID that was used to sign up to a Session. Unless you have enrolled into a session via one2ones.com, the session will not be accessible to you / anyone else trying to use the link.
Can Pupils log in at any time?

Pupils cannot access the live Session until the Tutor has logged on. Pupils will be in a waiting room until invited into the class by the Tutor.
Will all cameras be on?

It is optional for Pupils to have their camera on. Tutors will have their cameras on to help engage with Pupils, and in some cases having a Pupil camera on will also help with engagement for the Tutor and so we ask that you consider using your cameras during live sessions.
Can a Pupil be taken off a live Session?

We encourage all our Parents and Pupils to read and confirm acceptance to our Code of Conduct. For Pupils, we have broken it down into ‘Classroom Rules’ on the pupil homepage. It is at the Tutors discretion to terminate a Session for a Pupil if they feel they are in breach of any points in our Code of Conduct statement. Tutors will confirm their reasons with Parents should this take place.
Why are Sessions recorded, and who owns the recordings?
Can I use screen sharing to play a video clip for my students during a class?

Yes of course! You have to take an extra step to make it work, if you need a test run let the team at support@one2ones.com know and we can advise! When sharing your screen, make sure to check the "Share computer sound" and “Optimize for Video Clip” checkbox at the bottom of the sharing dialog box once you’ve selected which window to share from. Please ensure you have removed all irrelevant tabs from your web browser prior to sharing with Pupils.

I have Ad Blockers and Privacy Plugins for my children’s safety, will this interfere?

These browser extensions interfere with the experience, often causing our software to crash! Each plugin offers the ability to exclude specific websites so that websites you still want to access can operate without interference. We would recommend that you add one2ones.com to your list of permitted websites.
How can I update my Zoom software?
